Oh-Seok received his B.S. degree in chemistry from the Yonsei University, South Korea, in 2015. He earned his Ph.D in 2021 at the Seoul National University under the guidance of Prof. Jongheon Shin and studied structure determination and total synthesis of new bioactive compounds from marine sponges. Oh-Seok is fascinated by finding novel drug candidates from natural products using metabolomics and genome mining approaches, and he is looking forward to discovering new compounds by using these methods in the Loesgen lab at the Whitney Lab for Marine Bioscience.
