Dr. Annika Jagels
Postdoctoral Fellow
annika.jagels@whitney.ufl.edu

Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience
9505 N. Ocean Shore Blvd.
St. Augustine, FL 32080

Biographic Information

Annika received her bachelor's and master's degree in food chemistry from the University of Muenster, Germany, in 2014 and 2016, respectively. She completed her PhD in 2019 under the mentorship of Prof. Humpf in Muenster and studied the secondary metabolism of filamentous fungi, e.g. Stachybotrys spp. by applying isolation and structure elucidation tools. Annika is fascinated by natural products and is looking forward to identifying novel small molecules from filamentous fungi using gene activation experiments and metabolomics approaches. Moreover, she is interested in molecular biology, thus the Whitney Laboratory provides an excellent place for gaining new insights and technologies.
